Why I Was Wrong about the iPad Mini. Well, Sorta…

When Apple introduced the iPad Mini, it was the first ever Apple announced that sparked an emotional reaction from your truly. No, it was not excitement or happiness that the company finally reversed a policy put in place by the late Steve Jobs that there is no room for a smaller tablet in the Apple portfolio. My reaction to the iPad Mini announcement was actually disappointment and frustration, maybe even borderline anger.

Why 9/10 People Would Prefer the BlackBerry Playbook over the iPad

Let me start off by saying that i have been testing the BlackBerry Playbook for over a month now, gathering my thoughts, jotting down some points, and waiting till all my impressions were gathered and formulated. No, I was not waiting for Steve Jobs to resign to write my review of the Playbook and include such a blatantly anti-Apple title as you see above. The truth is I do not doubt the superiority of the iPad as a tablet computer or its affect on the dominance the Apple tablet now displays in this new tablet market. I do not believe the Playbook will ever outsell the iPad or even come close to it.

Why I’m Selling My iPad and Getting the iPad 2

First of all, let me just say that I have come to the conclusion that blogging has made me a very cynical person. As I watched the Apple iPad 2 event yesterday and read the live blogging/tweeting coming through my various streams, it made me a little sick. In fact, the sick feeling started earlier that day, as I tweeted. All the tech publications are overly obsessed with Apple to the point that all I was reading about hours before the event were mockups of what the iPad 2 was expected to look like.

Since chances are you are here reading this as a result of the title, I will give you the bottom line. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is an all around fantastic tablet that would serve you loyally as a Web surfing, music listening, video watching, and app exploring device. But let’s be honest, that is not what you want to know. You want to know how the Samsung Galaxy Tab compares to the iPad so I will address that. Would I replace my iPad 3g with a Samsung Galaxy Tab? No, but not for the reasons you are thinking. To understand what I mean, you are going to have to read on.

An Apple iPad VS. RIM Playbook Video

By now, I don’t need to tell you that tablets are the next . They are all over the place and everyone seems to be making them. Having said that, until now, tablets were primarily viewed and used by consumers and less as business enterprise devices. This is true about the iPad with its lack of multitasking (should finally be taken care of this week) the Samsung Galaxy Tab with its overall plasticy toy-like build, and Toshiba’s attempt at a tablet, the Folio, with the lack of an app store (review to follow).

Forget the iPad! How about a 58 Inch iPhone with Multi-Touch!

OK I do not even know where to categorize this video. Is this thing real or a very fancy video editing job? If it is in fact real, how on earth does it work? The following is a video of a 58″ iPhone table with what seems to be an extremely responsive multi-touch interface. It is apparently activated with an iPhone app for jailbroken iPhones and it then controls your iPhone’s screen.

7 Reasons to Get a Samsung Galaxy Tab over an iPad

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has been making waves in the early adopter community. It might not be the first tablet to run Google’s mobile operating system, Android, but it definitely the most significant one coming from an industry giant like Samsung. Now that there have been a few videos of the Tab in action as well as some initial reviews, I don’t think anyone denies the fact the Tab is an impressive device on all fronts. What seems to be the debate is iPad or Tab.
