3 Reasons to Switch from BlackBerry to iPhone 4 (and 3 Reasons Not To)

Share this:

I knew this day would come. In fact, when I first purchased my BlackBerry Bold, I informed my provider that I was not willing to commit to the BlackBerry service for an extended period of time. I did that because I knew that at one point or another, I would be making the transition to iPhone. However, the first iPhone to come out after I started using the Bold was the 3Gs. As impressive as that extra speed was, I was not going to give up on the BlackBerry email experience for a little more processing power. So, I waited.

A Secret Twitter Feature and The New Dell Streak Tablet

Share this:

Here I was, thinking I knew everything there was to know about Twitter (follow me here), and a short private conversation I had yesterday changes it all. Let me back up a little. It is no secret that I am a big sucker for new shiny mobile devices, so when Dell announced that they are entering the new tablet market, I was of course very excited. All the tech sites were reporting that Dell was releasing their 5 inch mobile phone/tablet device dubbed the Dell Streak and that it would be available in the US unlocked for $500.

The iPad Really is “Magical”

Share this:

It is a good day. I just ordered my 64GB 3G iPad and I should be getting it in the coming days. I have to admit that after playing with the iPad a few times, I am more excited about getting it than I have been about any gadget I have gotten in the past. I am not going to go into the debate whether it is a magical and revolutionary device or just an oversized iPod Touch, but I will say that 95% of what I do on my laptop or even desktop, I can do better on the iPad. Yes, it does not have Flash or a webcam, but besides that, it covers all my computing needs.

Two New Tweetdeck Features That Change the Game

Share this:

As time goes by, and more specifically the time by which most skeptics predicted that the “Twitter trend/fad” would end, I am only growing more dependent on Twitter (Follow me here) and using it more and more often for new purposes. I now use Twitter as my primary professional networking tool (yes I use LinkedIn, but somehow they compliment each other perfectly), my almost exclusive source of breaking news, my main online communication tool (replacing email almost), not to mention the inspiration for almost all blog posts that you see here.

Google Enters the TV Industry with Google TV

Share this:

Google made some nice announcements at their recent IO. Android 2.2, dubbed Froyo seems pretty exciting especially the ability to push contacts, apps, media, and even URLs to your Android device, over the air. However, the most significant announcement was definitely Google TV. It seems every few months I write a blog post that can be called “Google Trying to Revolutionize the industry”.

The Best Twitter iPhone App Goes to… Seesmic

Share this:

I had a whole blog post laid out in my head about Google’s new entry into the TV industry, but then, I tried the new Seesmic iPhone app and that took precedence. This app actually comes at a perfect time since the new official Twitter app was just released, and suffice to say, I am not a fan. Let me back up a little. As a mobile blogger, I try out a lot of phones, and a lot of apps on different platforms. Generally speaking, the iPhone obviously has the most variety, which ultimately means I can find the best apps on iPhone in almost any category.

Want to Avoid Mobile Phone Radiation? There’s Now An App for That!

Share this:

Among the many topics that surround the tech industry and specifically the mobile space, cellphone radiation is one of the hottest (no pun intended, OK, maybe it was a little intended). We recently read about a new study that was just launched and will be researching the correlation between mobile phone usage and health issues. The study is called COSMOS and is planned to be conducted over the period of three decades.

Adobe Responds to Steve Jobs with Endless Flash on Android Videos

Share this:

Wow, this is seriously starting to heat up. At first we thought that Apple just left out the Flash technology maybe because of political considerations or maybe technological ones, but there were rumors circulating that that was just temporary. At some point or another, most of us believed Flash would eventually make an appearance on iPhone OS. That all changed when Jobs wrote his famous blog post calling Adobe Flash a technology of the past and saying that it was to closed a platform for the iPhone (oh, the irony).

Top 10 iPad Apps

Share this:

It’s official. The iPad is a huge success. In its first month on the market, Apple has sold a cool 1,000,000 units. This is an impressive number, given that the device has only been available in the United States, but even more important is the fact that 12 million iPad apps have been downloaded. That’s an average of 12 apps per user in 30 days. With over 5,000 iPad apps to choose from, which apps should you download? Here is my list of the ten best iPad apps.

6 Tips For Writing an Effective Blog Post Title

Share this:

It’s been around two years since I have been blogging, and over that time, I have learned a lot about myself, my writing style, and my reader’s psychology. I never conducted a scientific study about which blog posts attracted the most readers, but such studies have been done, and when it comes to my blog, there is no need for such a study. The results are obvious and blatant.

A Historic Day for Apple, Palm, HP, & AOL!

Share this:

I do not remember a day, at least in recent history, in which there were so many game-changing tech announcements. AOL sells ICQ, the first ever instant messaging technology, Apple enters search to compete with Google, and HP buys Palm to compete with Google, Apple, BlackBerry, and any other mobile giant you can think of. All that happened yesterday, and people (myself mainly) do not know which piece of news is most worthy of their attention. So, after conducting a short Twitter survey (screen shot below), I decided to blog about all three… Now, my only challenge is to do it in a blog post that is not something you can bind and sell as a 500 page book, since there is just so much to say about each one of these developments.
